Abstract

This article presents the results of an anonymous nationwide survey conducted in partnership with ACBS Brazil, aiming to characterize Brazilian therapists who practice Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Data were collected through an online questionnaire consisting of 28 items covering sociodemographic information, ACT training background, teaching and training activities, and research involvement related to ACT. The survey was open from February 18, 2024, to September 25, 2025, and included responses from 677 participants. Most respondents were from the Southeast region, identified as women, White, aged between 20 and 39 years, and held postgraduate degrees. The findings indicate a marked increase in interest in ACT following the establishment of the Brazilian chapter of ACBS and the initiatives carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic—a period that also saw an expansion in ACT-related training programs and courses offered by institutions and independent professionals. Additionally, the data reveal a substantial growth in the number of scientific publications by Brazilian researchers, also driven by the pandemic in 2020.
