Abstract

The present article is a theoretical examination on the potentialities of the use of instruments with psychometric properties in the Brazilian model of clinical behavior analysis (commonly known as TAC). To exemplify the use of such instruments, two different programs, based in a University in the state of São Paulo, are presented. The first is a semi structured program that uses protocols and functional analysis to inform treatment. The second is a non-protocolized treatment as usual in the TAC model. As both programs make consistent use of psychometric tools they offer a good parameter to the final discussion – that is, how the link between a consistent function analysis of the behavior and the use of instruments may be useful to a TAC intervention, having as parameter evidence based practice principles.
